2010 DeltaWing IndyCar Concept

Far gone are the days when cars were only considered to be a mode of transportation. Over the years, cars have been developed and modified to accumulate style, class, beauty, power and comfort all at the same time. The 2010 DeltaWing IndyCar Concept is a result of all these years of research and man's desire to get a car that is better than the rest.

Car racing has been a popular sport for years and the craze seems to grow every year as we can see millions of Formula One fans following every race closely. The IndyCar racing is an alternative to this race as the owners felt that the Formula One was monopolized by some big names only. The 2010 DeltaWing IndyCar Concept has been designed to revolutionize these cars.

The current cars that are used in IndyCar racing are standard as the same company has been designing them for years. These cars are not very efficient and most have become outdated, both factors are having a detrimental effect on the quality of sport. The DeltaWing is aimed at providing better cars for these races.

The 2010 DeltaWing has received mixed reaction as some like it very much while others are not so sure of its unorthodox design. The original designers have created a prototype based on the 2010 DeltaWing Concept and it has been put on display in Chicago were huge number of people have come to see the new car model.

The design based on the 2010 DeltaWing IndyCar Concept is quite different from all the ones we have seen in the past. It is futuristic and looks something like a jet, something you would expect to see in a science fiction movie at best. The sleek look of the prototype based on the DeltaWing IndyCar makes one wonder if the car can take the pressure of a race.

The 2010 DeltaWing IndyCar was designed by one the most famous designers. The designer was also lola's ex chief designer. When it comes to cars, the engine, speed and such things are way too important. This car has a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo charged engine whose horsepower is 300 HP at 7,000 rpm.

The cars weight almost 1,030 lbs including driver's weight and it can reach the speed of 235 mph. The aerodynamic drag is Cd 0.24 and 80% of the aerodynamic downforce operates on the rear of the car. The Wheel base of DeltaWing Indycar is 125 inches with the front track of 24 inches and 70 inches of rear track.

The fact that is not common among other racing cars is the fact that 60% of the braking force is produced behind the center of gravity, which gives a dynamically balanced response. The designers of the DeltaWing Concept elaborate that the super slim design of the car will help in improving the aerodynamic of the car considerably and hence improve its performance. The DeltaWing also ensures that the wheels do not get interlocked at any time during the race, a situation which can be fatal for the drivers.

The prototype based on 2010 DeltaWing IndyCar Concept makes it clear that the weight of the car will be almost half to that of the traditional racing cars and hence the level of efficiency increases by double.
