Electric Cars

Electric cars are cool cars not only for environmentalists but for others as well. If you've seen the movie, "Who Killed the Electric Car?" then you'll realize that electric cars have been given a setback in the last few years in the U. S.

But, not to fear since electric cars are not dead, altogether.

In fact, besides the 1,000 or so electric cars roaming the streets in California before the C.A.R.B. fiasco, there are models available for import and there is a hot new electric sports car on the horizon.

The Tesla Roadster is the hottest new electric car ever to lay tire on U. S. soil. With 0 - 60 acceleration in 3.9 seconds, grab your tree hugging, tofu-chomping friends and take this zero emission vehicle for a test drive. The car is 100-percent electric, goes 250 miles per charge and costs about a penny per mile to operate. Of course the list price will set you back 100 G, but if you happen to be a hotrod environmentalist with a trust fund, then this car is for you.

For those who would like to lean less on the sports side and go a bit more conservative, then the Commuter car Tango electric car may just be for you. Actor George Clooney is rumored to be Commutercar's first customer.

While most of the major car manufacturers have abandoned the traditional battery-operated electric car, there are a couple that have stated they are working on lithium-ion electric cars (besides Tesla, which is one of them). Mitsubishi and Subaru both plan to come out with their own brand of electric cars before 2010 and companies AC Propulsion and Cleanova are working on electric car conversion kits for the Toyota Scion and Renault Kangoo.

So, fear not electric car fans, your dream vehicle is not dead, just developmentally delayed. With the newest innovations regarding lithium-ion batteries, there is sure to be a host of other automotive manufacturers that will also get onboard and revive the electric car for anxious fans. Tell the public that they can't have something and they want it even more. That's human nature and cure for the itch is a new line of electric cars coming to market within the next 2 - 3 years.
