Rolls Royce Phantom Black

The Rolls Royce Phantom Black is one of the rarest high-end luxury automobiles in existence. In July 2006, Rolls Royce unveiled a special edition vehicle called the Phantom Black at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. There were only be 25 Phantom Blacks created, all of the cars were pre-allotted to customers before they rolled out.

Rolls Royce Phantom Black

Not a British product anymore, the Rolls Royce Phantom Black is now flying under the BMW corporate flag. The Rolls Royce Phantom Black is visually a very cool and sexy sedan and one that will only be owned by business moguls, pop stars and actors. A person needs to have a serious amount of cash to own one of these luxury cars as they start at around $350,000 not including extras.

The Phantom Blacks are designed to show the very best in engineering and automotive craftsmanship as they are hand built, which has always been the trademark of Rolls Royce. The body is painted with Diamond Black paint with two silver coach lines. The 21-ich wheels are fitted with Goodyear run flat tires.

The wheel's caps have RR badges that are made to stay upright even at high speed and the tail pipes are highly visible. The 6.75-liter 48-valve V12 engine is gloss black with a chrome-plated top cover complete with the Rolls Royce badge.

The Rolls Royce Phantom Black's almost silent motor can getty up to 453-horsepower and can achieve 0 - 60 mph in 5.7 seconds. Inside the vehicle is a beautiful soft leather seating that is edged with Seashell piping and the rest of the car contains black ash wood with silver pinstripe and with a sunroof.

The dashboard is decorated in a black metal foil with diamonds for relief. The glove box contains an embroidered Phantom Black lining. The car also contains a Nokia 8800 phone encased in stainless steel for the conservative cell phone chatter.

The Rolls Royce Marketing Manager, Graeme Grieve, has described the vehicle, saying, "Phantom Black uses a number of new Bespoke finishes and materials to create a contemporary car that blends aesthetics and engineering, emphasizing the dynamic character of the car."

Frederick Henry Royce made his first Rolls Royce Motor Car in 1904 and the vehicle had a top speed of 39 miles per hour. Three years later Royce had created the Silver Ghost that had made a 14,371 mile non stop trip. Rolls Royce went into receivership in 1971 but was bought by Vickers who was then taken over by BMW. Shortly after this, the first Phantom cars were made including the Phantom Black.
